I get asked this a lot — why Michigan? And honestly, the easier question is why would you ever leave.
West Michigan has this rare combination that's hard to find anywhere else. You've got Lake Michigan right there — the beaches, the sunsets, the small lakeshore towns like Grand Haven and Saugatuck that feel like the best-kept secret in the Midwest. Then you've got Grand Rapids about 30 minutes inland, a city that punches way above its weight with incredible restaurants, a thriving arts scene, craft breweries on every corner, and neighborhoods full of character.
And then there's everything in between — towns like Rockford, Lowell, and Caledonia where you get a little more space, a little more quiet, and a community that actually knows your name.
I moved here not knowing what to expect, and I haven't stopped exploring since.
